Here goes nothing

Oh, boy.

As part of the corporate communications curriculum at Centennial College, I have to write a blog. Two weeks ago, I would have told you that a blog is a new pizza topping.

Not only that, I have to write about public relations. Don’t get me wrong: I want to enter the profession. But I’ve only been studying it for a few months. What could I say or write that would be of value or interest to a PR pro?

Blogs are great, I’m told. Everyone gets a chance to interact and offer their opinion. No one is right or wrong. Baloney. I’m old school; I would far rather listen to someone who has knowledge rather than an opinion. In that way, I suppose I’m an elitist. I prefer a top-down approach to education and learning. I prefer offering a thought only if it can be fully supported by thorough research.

So, I’m venturing into the great unknown. I will be writing on a topic about which I know virtually nothing.

Bear with me.
